Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is necessary when a tooth cannot be saved, e.g. if there is a root canal infection or untreated cavities. Extraction at our clinic includes an X-ray and anesthesia.

We want tooth extraction to definitely be the last step in tooth preservation and we recommend to try to keep your own teeth as long as possible if they can be fixed. If it cannot be fixed anymore or you don’t want to keep it, tooth extraction is an option for you then.

Tooth extraction includes:

  • X-ray if necessary
  • Anesthesia
  • Follow-up appointment after the extraction
  • Stitches removal if necessary
  • Consumable material

Sometimes it is necessary to extract a tooth to avoid infections and pain, but it can also be extracted when it is needed for an orthodontic treatment.

Before and after the extraction, certain precautionary measures must be taken: eat well before coming to the clinic; it is very important not to eat or drink for two to three hours after the extraction. When a tooth is removed, swelling is common around it, while some people can experience pain or bleeding in that area. You will be given bite compresses and painkillers to stop the bleeding.
