Dental floss is an effective addition to oral hygiene for removing plaque and food particles trapped between teeth. How can we help with bad breath?

We recommend brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, flossing, using interdental brushes, oral irrigators, and brushing your tongue with a tongue scraper. Check out other tips on our blog  here!

How should I brush my teeth?

Our patients often make the same mistake – brushing their teeth with vigorous horizontal movements, which leads to incomplete plaque removal and soft tissue damage. You can read our guide to proper tooth brushing below: The technique proven to be most effective in maintaining oral hygiene is placing the toothbrush at about a 45-degree angle to the root of the tooth, with half of the bristles on the gums and the other half on the tooth. The brush is moved in gentle circular motions along the tooth arch. Repeat the same movements on the inside surfaces, paying special attention to the chewing surfaces of the posterior teeth. A good toothbrush should have a large number of bristles. The bristles should be medium-soft and rounded. For effective cleaning, a pea-sized amount of toothpaste is sufficient. Essential aids for maintaining oral hygiene are dental floss and interdental brushes, which can help clean the areas between teeth that are hard to reach, and where food debris can lead to cavities

Brushing your tongue is recommended in order to remove bacteria and debris that accumulate during the day. Certain types of bacteria can cause bad breath, and a good tip is to remove the debris using a tongue scraper.

At Nova Dental Clinic, we offer  in-office and  at-home teeth whitening. For more details about these treatments, read our blog posts!
